Find Many Health Benefits In One Pill

joint inflammationDegenerative conditions affecting the joints, such as rheumatoid and osteoarthritis, occur when the body’s immune system mistakenly believes that its own tissues are foreign substances and produces an inflammatory response to get rid of them. The result is joint inflammation, pain, and stiffness.

To treat this condition, doctors often prescribe non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or NSAIDs. While these drugs are effective, they can also cause unwanted side effects. Consequently, more and more individuals are opting for natural remedies to address painful joint inflammation, and research has shown that omega-3 fatty acids are among the most effective, natural substances for treating joint inflammation and pain.

The three essential, polyunsaturated fatty acids that make up the omega-3s are ALA, EPA, and DHA. It is the last two fatty acids, EPA and DHA, that are critical in reducing joint inflammation and pain, but they must be consumed because the body does not produce them. And they also need to be consumed in the right proportion.

The most widely used source of these nutrient-rich fatty acids has been, until recently, the oil from fish such as salmon, mackerel, herring, and sardines. However, new studies are showing that the oil from krill, very small (1/4” – 2” long) deepwater crustaceans that inhabit the world’s oceans, is purer and far more potent than fish oil in the fight against joint inflammation and pain. I recommend krill oil in general, and Food Science Lab’s Neptune Krill Oil in particular, to help fight joint inflammation for the following reasons:

Joint Inflammation

You can purchase Neptune Krill Oil by clicking on this picture.

1) The krill’s omega-3 fatty acids are bonded to phosolipids, a basic component of all cells. As a result, our cells absorb 95 to 98 % of krill oil (compared to 65% of fish oil), giving our bodies 30% more omega-3 fatty acids than fish oil.

2) A substance in krill oil that is not found in fish oil is astaxanthin. Not only does astaxanthin keep krill oil fresh naturally, which means no artificial preservatives, it has 48%  more antioxidant power than fish oil.

3) Another reason that Neptune Krill Oil is so effective in fighting joint inflammation and pain is because of the ratio of omega -3 to omega-6 fatty acids it contains. While omega-6 fatty acids are essential to our health, the typical American diet contains an excessive amount, and an overabundance of omega-6 fatty acids can cause joint inflammation. The ratio of omega-3 to mega-6 fatty acids in Neptune Krill oil is an inflammation-reducing 15:1.

4) Finally, because krill are at the bottom of the food chain, they don’t eat other fish, many of which contain toxins such as mercury, making krill oil extremely safe to consume.

By supplementing your diet with Neptune Krill Oil (available in our Store!), joint inflammation and pain are a thing of the past.
